Online Game Designer (m/f/x)

The Online Game Designer works closely with the Producer, Executive Team and the Developers in designing, balancing and implementing specified areas of an assigned online game. He/she will be working on balancing the game’s monetization, creating new stats and units, adding items, envisioning new mechanics, as well as improving player progression, plus further balancing and design tasks not specified in this list. His/her main work will be to ensure the game’s fun and flow, profitability, and ongoing expansion by creating and maintaining detailed documentation and datasets for use throughout the game’s lifetime, as well as entering all relevant data and information into the associated tools and databases for communication, planning, development, testing and release.

Understanding mobile and PC online-game mechanics, Free-to-play micro-transaction marketplaces, as well platform-specific usability differentiations are a definite must have as they will be the mainstay of the Online Game Designer’s everyday work activities.

Responsibilities

• Planning and executing the detailed design steps required for monetization, mechanics, systems, assets, story lines and all other aspects of the game through every phase from concept to release and beyond.
• Interfacing with team, executives, and community members to ensure the game’s stakeholders are provided with the necessary information and detail and the game design takes their feedback into close consideration.
• Considering and weighing all aspects of the game design against their potential effect on the game economy and its planned monetization.
• Assessing and evaluating design documents and content created by other project members.
• Ensuring the game vision and design is realized to its full potential.
• Taking ownership in the design and the resulting commercial success of the product.

Qualifications

• A strong passion for strategy games, mobile games, massively multiplayer and free-2-play mechanics.
• College or University Diploma/Degree in Video Game Design (or a comparable certification in IT Project and Team Management, Computer Sciences, or Programming).
• 2-4 years experience of working in a comparable position, or other relevant experience
• Participation in at least one complete game production and development project.
• Ability to articulate and document monetization and game mechanics clearly and concisely.
• Ability to communicate effectively and objectively with all levels and parts of the development team.
• Ability to motivate, lead and inspire other team members under changing conditions.
• Ability to work with tight deadlines under stressful conditions in a live environment.
• Readiness to travel internationally.
• Excellent oral and written English skills.

Desirable Skills

• Any further foreign language skills such as Italian, Polish,
  Turkish, French, Spanish or German, both written and verbally.
• Experience with game communities as clan leader or similar.
• Experience playing Dorado Online Games’ creative products.
• Experience with Social Media influencers.
• Experience running content channels such as Youtube, Twitch
  or the like.
